No Dr. Who film this year

My favorite Time Lord will not be jumping through hyperspace from our television set to the big screen … at least not this year. In an interview originally appearing on The Sun and reproduced on MSN.com, Doctor Who producer Steven Moffat said in response to rumors of the popular BBC show becoming a feature film that there are “no developed plans” for a film.

Although Matt Smith, who plays the current incarnation of the good Doctor, has expressed interest in moving into Hollywood films, Moffat has soured on the idea of Tinseltown getting its hands on any big screen Doctor Who project and reinforced his position that any big screen Doctor Who project will be made by the BBC, “To clarify: any  ‘Doctor Who’ movie would be made by the BBC team, star the current TV Doctor and  certainly NOT be a Hollywood reboot.”

For now, fans will get to enjoy another season of Doctor Who in 2012. The big screen will have to wait for another time.
